Repowering a reliable 1st generation 029 sthil

Reason for new block, shaft on old saw worn so clutch was rattling. Original cylinder only 45mm, so a slight increase in power! Running. Only bad point, base of new block where collared bolt screws in was not deep enough to be fully seated/tightened! Swapped out base with base from the original block, problem solved. A 30 year old saw back to work!

Dont buy

First of all the crew at traverse creek is amazing and took care of the issues right away.
Sent me a top end kit with new seals and even an extra goodie to make the situation right!
Now to the product I’m reviewing…
The product arrived with rolled seal and broken piston rings assembled as a pre assembled kit, and would not even turn. Once I took it apart I found broken piston rings and also noticed that the piston and cylinder was slightly smaller than advertised. The seals were forced onto the crankshaft and not even checked before they bolted down. Also kit did not come with the correct screws for mounting as shown in photos.
